Microsoft

Microsoft Corporation, founded in 1975 and headquartered in Redmond, Washington, runs the Azure cloud; in September 2025 it put its global Microsoft Cloud at more than 400 data centers in 70 regions.1,2,3 On MetaPrompt it appears as an AI data-center operator, a chip designer and a speech-API vendor. Its purpose-built AI data centers are called Fairwater: Microsoft describes the Wisconsin site as 315 acres with three buildings and 1.2 million square feet under roof, and says the Atlanta site began operating in October 2025 as the second Fairwater data center, linked to its other Fairwater sites over a dedicated AI wide-area network.3,4 Its own inference accelerator, Maia 200, introduced on January 26, 2026, is built on TSMC's 3nm process with 216 GB of HBM3e at 7 TB/s, and Microsoft says it is deployed in its US Central region near Des Moines, Iowa.5

In Largest AI Data Centers by Estimated Power Draw (October 2026), Fairwater Atlanta ranks 3rd at an estimated 636 MW of IT power and Fairwater Wisconsin 8th at 369 MW, both on Nvidia B200 chips by Epoch AI's estimate; Epoch projects 2,263 MW for the Wisconsin site by Q2 2028, the largest projection in that table.6,7 In AI Accelerators With the Most HBM per Chip (October 2026), Maia 200 ranks 7th by HBM per chip.5 On Hugging Face's Open ASR Leaderboard, Azure Speech (07-2026) has an average word error rate of 5.02% across 11 English test sets, the second-lowest in the table in What Word Error Rate Measures, and Why Speech-to-Text WERs Disagree.8

Two more posts list it. Crusoe announced in March 2026 a separate 900 MW campus in Abilene, Texas, to support Microsoft, next to the Stargate site, as Stargate's Sites: Operating vs Under Construction vs Planned notes.9 And Microsoft Corporation is one of the eight US-headquartered companies listed in the July 2026 export-control rule for the United Arab Emirates, covered in How US AI Chip Export Controls Work (as of October 2026).10
